Good afternoon, Kindergarten family!
What a fun and crazy week! The pumpkin patch was so much fun, and I am still reflecting on how awesome all of the kids were at their first assembly they hosted!
We also had a very busy week of learning! I had reading conferences with the kids, and I am not ready to move anyone up into a different level yet, but they are doing pretty well with their readers. Thank you for your support at home! They have shared with me that they do like Raz-Kids =) I want to communicate that I do not want Raz-Kids to replace books. They should still read books each day, and you reading to them daily is also very powerful. If you ever have any questions, please reach out to me.
In phonics this week, we practiced the proper letter formation of n and m. We also started writing complete sentences together. When your little one is writing at home, please reinforce that they should always form their letters from top to bottom, and they should be writing in lowercase letters. If your child uses uppercase letters in his or her name other than the first letter, please practice writing the first letter uppercase and the rest lowercase. That would be very helpful =)
Math is getting more difficult for the kids, so we are revamping things in here. Starting on Monday, Mr. Hughes (the 3rd grade teacher) will be in our class helping out during math time. We are so fortunate that he is donating his prep time to be with us!
Because of our short week with our field study and the assembly, we were unable to do much in science and social studies. Next week, we will be focusing on Veterans because Veteran's Day is quickly approaching.
Next Wednesday is Halloween! The kids may dress up for school. They are not allowed to have weapons, masks, or inappropriate costumes. In order to dress up, the ASB asks that they donate $2 as a part of a fundraiser they are doing. If they are not interested in participating, they should come to school dressed in their school uniform. Halloween is also Ellie's birthday! Wednesday is going to be full of fun and treats. The energy is always high on Halloween, so it will be a fun day! The next day is a little different. A lot of the kids are usually tired. Thursday will be an easier day, so it will be a review day. Friday, November 2nd is a minimum day. I am realizing as I write this, I better get mentally prepared for next week!
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
