Welcome back everyone! While Monday was pretty hard for the kids to be back at school, the kids were completely in the swing of things by Tuesday. I was super proud of them. They are such a special bunch =) I took it pretty easy on them easing them back in this week, but come Monday, we are going to hit the ground running. I will be sending home homework starting on Monday. Your child will have homework each night. There will be a math page and reading homework. I may also send home some social studies or science homework if I need to. After we have mastered writing our perfect letters, I will be sending home writing homework, but for now, we will do all writing in class. We have begun a new writing genre. We are focusing on writing 'how to' pieces. Yesterday, when I made PB & J sandwiches per their directions (it was super funny), they all realized how specific they have to be when writing their 'how to' pieces. The kids always enjoy this writing unit! Next week, we are beginning our module 2 in math. I will be sending home some informational papers to help with homework.
In social studies, we are learning about then and now, so your kiddo will be bringing home some extra things to do at night with you to help them learn more about 'then'. I have exciting news about reading! I was able to purchase a lot of early readers from a teacher that is retiring. I now have so many great leveled books to help your child become an amazing reader, and they are in color!! No more black and white paper books! I am putting together leveled book bags this weekend for each child with the appropriate levels to challenge them and push them forward.
Thank you again for all of the gifts I was showered with for Christmas! You really know how to make a teacher feel special! I hope you have a great weekend! If you have any questions, please email me, give me a call, or shoot me a text. Thank you!
Write something about yourself. No need to be fancy, just an overview.
