Happy Friday Families!
I love this time of year! We had such a wonderful week learning about Thanksgiving and doing Thanksgiving activities. On Thursday, we had a two hour block of Thanksgiving related STEAM activities. The kids created the Mayflower out of limited supplies, and we tested how many bolts and washers it took to sink them. Next, they built pumpkin pickers, and they tested them against each other to see whose were the most efficient. Finally, they built flying turkeys, and they were able to race them down a string to see whose went the fastest and the furthest.
My favorite day was today! I truly enjoyed seeing you all for our Thanksgiving Feast! It makes me so happy to watch the kids interact with their family and witness the true joy on their faces! I am so very thankful for my Kindergarten family! I cannot thank you enough for all that you do for me and our classroom!
I hope that you have an amazing and memorable Thanksgiving!
Hello families =)
The students had a productive week of publishing some narrative writing pieces, completing their first module in math, and meeting with me as I completed first trimester assessments.
Next week, the kids will be changing reading groups, and we will begin our new reading unit of reading with print strategies and sight word power. Our challenge/sight words we have been learning are: because, said, and, you, name, was, and friends. Please continue to challenge your child by encouraging them to read these words in various texts.
We are starting our second unit on narrative writing pieces. Soon, all of the students will be comfortable knowing that a story has a beginning, middle and an end, and they will be able to decipher when their story is missing one of these parts.
Math will be review before we move into our second module. We will start module number two after Thanksgiving break.
A few reminders:
*There is NO SCHOOL tomorrow as we observe Veteran's Day.
*Our Kindergarten and Veteran's Day Assembly is this coming MONDAY at 8:30 am. We would love to see you all there!
*On Thursday, November 17th, we will enjoy a Thanksgiving feast with first and second grade as well as all of our families. Please come if you can. We are thankful for all of you!
Have a memorable three day weekend!
Hello families =)
These past weeks have been very busy here in Kindergarten and very fun! We loved the Pumpkin Patch! We are so thankful that we have such amazing parents that enjoy helping us make the best memories! Halloween was celebrated to the fullest as well with a day of dress up, Halloween themed lessons in all subjects, and a Halloween party to end our day.
Our trimester is coming to an end next week, so we will be wrapping up all of our units, and I will be completing assessments with each student. Our report cards will be going out on November 17th. If you ever have any questions or concerns, my door is always open! Your child's love for school and their success is so important to me. Thank you for all of your support!
Please remember that next Friday there is no school as we will be observing Veteran's Day. Also, on Monday, November 13th, we will be performing in the Veteran's Day Assembly at 8:30 am.
I hope you all enjoy your weekend! See you on Monday =)
