Hello families =)
Happy Friday! I hope you all had a great week!
We had a fun and busy week! Your child may have been a little more tired this week, but they are continuing to build stamina, and they will soon be used to our productive days. Thank you for continuing to support them with good sleep and healthy food.
Johnny Appleseed Day was a success! It was a beautiful day full of learning! Thank you to everyone who helped us by donating the items that we needed. Almost every single student tried apple pie for the first time, including me. I loved it!
This week in phonics, we learned how to properly write the letter f. We spent most of the week learning about sentence structure. Next week, we will be practicing the letters n, m, i, and u.
In science, we are moving on to learning about leaves and why they are falling off of the trees and changing colors.
In language arts, we will continue to work on our narrative writing pieces and read a lot of books. When reading with your child at night, please have book talks with him or her about what is happening in the beginning, middle and end.
* And please remember to fill out your child's reading log each night.
Have a relaxing weekend!
Hello families =)
I have to share that I witnessed the children really growing into responsible and caring kindergarteners this week. They are becoming problem solvers and very supportive friends to each other. This makes all the difference in a positive learning environment. Thank you for your continued support at home!
This week we began studying the different types of trees and their leaves, worked on three-part narrative pieces in writing, practiced writing the letters b and t, and continued learning about addition problems.
Next week, we are celebrating Johnny Appleseed's birthday on Tuesday, September 26th. All of our lessons will be centered around Johnny Appleseed and apples. It is going to be a fun day full of great learning! If anyone is interested in bringing in any red apples, green apples, yellow apples, or an apple pie (Johnny's birthday cake), please let me know. We would really appreciate the help!
I hope that you all have an amazing weekend!
This was a big week! Thank you to everyone who was able to come celebrate Grandparent's Day with us and for coming to Back to School Night. I also want to thank you all again for purchasing books for our classroom library. We are readers in here, and we love new books! I truly appreciate all of your generosity! This coming Monday, we will be celebrating Daisy and Diego's 5th Birthday! In science, we are continuing to study trees and Johnny Appleseed. In math, we are working on addition problems to 10. In writing, we are continuing to produce narrative stories. Lastly, we are starting our first unit of phonics since we wrapped up the introduction this week. It is going to be a great week! I hope that you all are enjoying your weekend! See you Monday =)
Hello Families! We had a busy "short" week! We celebrated THREE birthdays on the same day! Happy Birthday to Shylo, Eli, and Isaac! The kids are continuing to do really well building stamina during math, reading, writing, phonics, science, and social studies. We had a lot of fun in science this week! They are scientists! They love science! We are learning all about trees, and today we started our focus on apple trees for Johnny Appleseed's birthday.
Next week is our Book Fair here at school. We are excited to see all of the books. Your child will have a chance to check them out on Monday, and they will be making "wishlists" if anyone is interested in purchasing. We also have Grandparent's Day on Wednesday. Back to School Night is on Thursday the 14th at 6pm. It will be another productive week! I am looking forward to it!
Thank you for continuing to read with your child every night. Kindergarten is a BIG year for reading. Have an awesome weekend!
Hello families =)
We had a busy week in Kindergarten! While we are continuing to work very hard on building stamina and learning how to be a kindergartener, we have now begun all of our academic subjects. In the past weeks, I introduced reader's and writer's workshop, phonics, and math. This week we began science and social studies. Please know that we are not in the "meat" of any of our subjects yet. It takes kindergarteners awhile to build stamina and learn how to learn. I am simply getting them well prepared and excited for what is to come! I also introduced gold coins and the treasure box this week. Everyone visited the treasure box for the first time, but I will be more strict with my expectations from now on.
I hope that you all have a great three day weekend! If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me =) Thank you!
