Hello Families =)
Happy Friday! We had a great week! The kids are quickly learning the routines of each day, and the special area teachers have given me awesome reports this week. I am so proud of them! They are continuing to build their stamina in all of the subjects. We were able to start working in our math books this week, and the kids loved that! Some of them wanted to bring them home and continue to work in their books. I told them in a few months, they will be bringing home math homework, and that made them happy.
Next week, there is no school on Monday, and the book fair will be open. Our class is previewing the book fair on Tuesday, so if you would like to know what books they are interested in, I will send home a list for you. Please let me know. Grandparent's Day is on Friday. If grandparents cannot come in, please send in any special person in your child's life. Please refer to the email I sent regarding the schedule.
I hope that you all have a very relaxing and fun three day weekend! Thank you for everything you do, parents! I appreciate all of you, and I am looking forward to getting to know you!
Hello Families =)
Happy Friday! The kids made it through their first full week, and they are all adjusting very well to the busy schedule here in kindergarten! We had a volunteer aid start this week to help out in the classroom for a couple of hours each day. Everyone loves her, and her name is Carla Hernandez (Miss Hernandez). We are very happy she is in here to help us as we transition into being big kindergarteners!
This week, we continued to build stamina during writing, reading, and math. We have not began science because we have been concentrating on our social studies unit of getting along and citizenship. Building a safe classroom environment is so important so each child will not be afraid to take risks. We learn best when we are comfortable taking risks.
Next week will look a lot like this week. Building a safe learning environment and getting to know the kids as learners takes about six weeks.
I have had some parents ask if they can do anything to help. We would love donations for our treasure box (toys) if you are ever at the Dollar Store or somewhere affordable that sells little things in bulk. The kids love visiting the treasure box on fun Fridays!
Thank for everything you do for us! I hope you have a very relaxing weekend!
Happy Friday, Kindergarten Family =)
This is our class news page. Every Friday I will add a new post telling you what we did during the week, and what will be coming up. I try to always leave a link in my reminder email to come check this page out. I hope you find it helpful.
We have had a great and busy week! I am sure you have noticed that your child may be a little drained each day. They are asking for naps, and they constantly ask when school will be out (we are having too much fun), but I promise they will soon build the stamina. With that said, I want to communicate to all of you that we spend the first six weeks in kindergarten building our classroom community, getting to know our rules and routines, making friends, and building stamina in each subject area. This is such an important time because once this is established, it is so easy to hit the ground running. We are able to simply move forward because they know what is expected of them, and we have a safe, loving classroom that they will not be afraid to take chances in. Please know that we are also learning during this time. I am building stamina each day in reading, writing, and math. I am also getting to know them as learners. Science and social studies don't require much stamina building because those are the more fun subjects for most of the kids, but we will also be tapping into them.
Thank you so much for having your child bring in their share bag. These bags are helping us get to know each other. We only get to a few each day, and I return them to the kids that have already had a turn. They will take us until next Friday to finish. I hope your little one is not too sad without his or her prized possessions. Please let me know if this is the case.
Please also return the information packets this coming Monday. I am getting to know your children so well, but it is also important for me to know more about them from you.
Please remember that I am always here for all of you. Thank you for always supporting us and helping us make this the best year in kindergarten!
