I am writing a day early because I will not be able to write tomorrow. I hope that you are all having a great week! We had an awesome week here in Kindergarten! The kids have been wonderful at continuing to work hard. Thankfully, their "summeritis" has not kicked in =)
We finished the letters to each child's first grade teacher. They turned out so cute! Next week in writing, we will be doing our end of the year assessment writing prompt.
In math, we are continuing to work with number sentences.
In reading this week, I was able to complete all of the reading assessments for each child. I am so happy to report that they are all either at grade-level or well above grade-level! Your child has worked so hard to become and reader this year! They are ALL amazing readers!
This is our last week of bringing home our individual book bags. For the remainder of the year and over the summer, I encourage you to continue to read with your child and ask lots of questions about their understanding of the book to strengthen their comprehension skills.
I will not be assigning any math homework next week either as we are going to complete it in class as assessments on what they know. You are reading this correctly...no more homework!!!
Have a beautiful three day weekend! Thank you to our Veterans and happy Memorial Day!
Happy Friday! This has been a rough week with school news, and I want to thank you all for continuing to stand by me and help finish this year out strong with the same amount of positiveness and heart that has made this an amazing year in Kindergarten! I am truly devoted to these kids!
This week in class we started our last writing piece. The kids are drafting a persuasive letter to their future first grade teacher telling why they are ready for the first grade. I am loving them already. At the same time, they make me sad that they are moving on so soon.
Math is continuing to pick up speed with number bonds and number sentences. The curriculum takes us all the way up through the last full week of school, so we will continue to push forward.
In reading, I began assessing the students this week on their progress. So far, I am seeing a huge amount of growth. Report cards will reflect these assessments. If you have any questions, I am here for you.
As far as homework goes, I want to thank you all for helping me push the kids to become spellers! Their writing has reflected nicely that they have more spelling knowledge. We will not have anymore spelling homework this year, but we will continue to have reading and math homework.
Next week, we are going to continue with our math program, moving up with our reading bags, finish up with our writing unit and begin some of our end of the year projects.

Happy Friday Families!
I want to start off by saying thank you for all of the well wishes for Rylee. We were able to bring her home yesterday =) She is feeling much better!
We had a great week! I love that the kids are still with me and not completely focused on the fact that the summer is fast approaching. We are achieving a lot still!
In science, all 10 of our chrysalis became butterflies! We have an exciting journal of the experience. I truly enjoyed watching the surprise on the kids' faces each day. We were able to let them go today, so they can flourish (the kids were sad because they wanted to keep them).
In math, we are continuing to work with breaking apart numbers and number bonds. All of the kids are doing really well.
In writing, we are working hard on our persuasive/opinion writing. I sent home your child's poetry book today =)
In reading, we have been reading persuasive stories this week.
Next week, we are going to continue to work with number bonds and persuasive writing. In reading, I am going to be assessing the students' progress from the year. Please continue to have your child read their entire book bag nightly, and if they finish quickly, they can always read more books at home.
Reminders: The Gala is tomorrow night! There are many wonderful things you can purchase at the Gala including some beautiful art pieces made by your child. I hope to see you all there!
Legoland is on Monday! The kids are so pumped (me too)! I love this field study! Please refer to the email I sent out earlier for information pertaining to Legoland. If you have any questions over the weekend, please do not hesitate to call.
I hope you all have an amazing weekend! The weather looks beautiful!
Hello Families =)
Happy Saturday! I hope you are having a great start to your weekend!
Yesterday was so much fun having the grandparents and special guests visit. I hope that they had just as much fun! Please thank them again for making our day so special!
We had a very eventful week. In science, our caterpillars turned into chrysalis, and we successfully moved them into their butterfly environment. We have been keeping close observations in our science journal, and we are eager for them to become butterflies!
In math, we are learning how to break apart numbers into number bonds, and we have begun the beginnings of writing number sentences.
In writing, we have completely finished up with our poetry books, and they will be going home this upcoming week. I apologize last week was a little busier than anticipated with lots of absences because of a cold that quickly made its way around our class.
In reading, we are reading books about moms, dads, grandparents, butterflies, and end of the year books. I cannot believe May is already quickly going by =( I am not ready to say goodbye to my friends!
Next week, we are going to continue observing our butterflies, start a new opinion letter (it's going to be a cute one), continue working with number bonds, and reading lots of books!
Don't forget that the spelling test is on Monday. The Gala is this coming Saturday the 14th, and Legoland is Monday the 16th.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend, and please do not forget to spoil the moms! Happy Mother's Day to all of my class moms! I hope you love your gifts. They kids worked so hard =)
Write something about yourself. No need to be fancy, just an overview.
