Hello Families =)
We had a fun and busy week! I leave class everyday so proud of these kiddos! They are so bright and funny! I adore our Kindergarten family!
In science this week, we continued to study different animals that will be at the Zoo as well as the animals that we have chosen to get to know better. We watched our caterpillars form their chrysalis, and we are anticipating the arrival of our butterflies!
Our science field study to Penny Pickles Museum was so much fun! The kids had a blast exploring and participating in some science experiments. A special thank you to Joe and Gina for going with us and helping to make it a memorable experience!
For writing, we continued to write more poetry as well as write our animal reports. For writer's workshop, we are continuing to work on opinion writing. Next week after we visit the zoo, they will write a letter to the Zoo about why their animal is the best as a part of our persuasive writing unit.
In math, we continued to work on number bonds. I know some are more trickier than others, but the kids are doing really well with them. Thank you for your support at home!
REMINDER--- The Field Study to the San Diego Zoo is on Monday. Your child needs a car seat or a booster chair to attend. They need to be in their green polo shirt with comfortable and appropriate bottoms and shoes, a brown bag lunch, and a water. We are leaving promptly at 8am. Please arrive at the school by 7:45am at the lower parking lot where you drop off your child daily, so we can set your child's car seat up. Please refer to the Zoo letter I sent home last week.
There is a special RSVP in your child's white binder tonight =)
Have a beautiful weekend! I will see you on Monday!
Hello Families =)
Today was my first time doing student-led conferences, and I will admit I was a little nervous. I was so happy with how today went! I am so thankful that you all were able to come in. The kids did a great job taking you to each station, and it seemed like they really enjoyed it.
Our week was full of science and poetry! We had a fun week of learning. I hope your child has shared with you about their animals they are learning about and our caterpillars that we are watching grow each day. They learned about poetry last week, so this week they wrote their first poem. Most of you saw those today. They are their "name" poems.
In math, we are continuing to work with number bonds. The feedback that I have received is the kids are not having a hard time with their homework. Please let me know if this is not true.
It was a short week, so you may see that not all of the books will change in your child's book bag.
Tomorrow is Open House, and I really hope that you can all make it. We are opening our school up to the community, and we want to grow. They need to hear from you. Your child will also be performing on stage at 10am. They need to be in uniform and arrive no later than 9:45am. It is an adorable little performance, and they will be singing in the langauge they have been studying this year.
We also had special visitors this week that taught us all about the careers they are in. The kids loved having Bella's dad, and Ben's mom and dad share with us. A special thank you to Nick, Joe, and Angela for coming in!
Thank you so much for everything you all do for us! I hope you have a beautiful weekend! Don't forget there is a spelling test on Monday =)
Hello Families =)
Happy Friday! This was such a great week back! I could tell the break was exactly what the kids needed! They all came to school on Monday happy to see each other and ready to learn. They fell right back in to the routine, and we had a very successful and exciting week!
Everyone did really well with their reading bags this week, so I am pretty sure you should be seeing new books on Monday. Thank you so much for continuing to read with your child daily!
For writing this week, the kids finished up their pieces about what they want to be when they grow up, which will lead us into next week when some of you are coming to Kindergarten to share about your career (thank you to everyone that has signed up). We also learned about poetry because it is poetry month, and the kids will be writing their own poems next week. We also finalized our animals that we will begin researching, and they will work on their reports during writing time as well.
Spelling homework also starts next week! Since next week is a short week, we may not have the first test on Friday. I will see how they are all doing on Wednesday.
In addition to working on our animals in science, our caterpillars came in that we get to witness turn into beautiful butterflies.
I want to remind you all that student-led conferences are next Friday the 20th of April. The classroom will be much like an open house from 8:30 - 11:00. I will send out more information soon.
I hope that you all have an amazing weekend!
Write something about yourself. No need to be fancy, just an overview.
