Hello Kindergarten Family =)
What a fantastic week! International Week was awesome! We learned so much about all of the countries we visited! We traveled to Italy, Denmark, Botswana, Spain, Vietnam, and the Bahamas! Your child brought their passport home today. Talking about today...they were amazing presenting in front of the school! They received so many compliments! I am so proud of them! I wish I took pictures, but I was BUSY! Yikes.
There is something else in your child's folder. I sent home some optional reading homework for them to do over the break. If your little one is interested in doing the homework, they will receive some special treats when we return. I also included a bookmark for each of them.
Please keep in mind that when we return to school, we will be going on our Field Study to the Carlsbad Flower Fields on Friday the 12th of April. If you did not turn in your child's permission slip, please bring it in by April 10th, so your child will be able to attend the trip. Also, if anyone would like to chaperone, please let me know.
We have two more field trips before school ends. We will be going to the San Diego Zoo and Legoland. You will receive more information when school resumes. I hope that you all have a great couple of weeks making memories!
Hello Kindergarten Family!
What a day! What a great week! I cannot tell you enough how thankful I am for all of you helpers! We are having so much fun in kindergarten learning and doing our thing because you guys are so quick to help and make everything so special! THANK YOU!
I wanted to let you know that next weekend is going to be very different. We will not being doing our regular studies because it is International Week. Each day we will travel to different countries (classrooms) to learn about their culture. This will take place from 8:30 to 10:30, and then we will have recess and return to class to practice our presentation for 30 minutes each day before we go to lunch. After lunch, my class goes to their special area classes. On Wednesday, we will be celebrating Izel's birthday, and we will celebrate McKenzie's birthday on Thursday. Their birthdays are during Spring Break, so we want to celebrate them a little early.
All of you are invited to come watch us do a special presentation for you on Thursday at 11:00. The kiddos will not be dressing up on this day because it will be a lot for them to change in and out of their costumes. If most of you are coming, we may be able to work it though!
The kids will be presenting Morocco to the school on Friday, so they will need to come to school dressed up in their Moroccan best if they are participating.
We still need some volunteers for the couscous. If anyone is interested, please let me know.
There will be no math homework or book bags next week. I do ask that you help your child practice their part for the presentation each day. I sent home the papers today, so please take a look in their backpacks.
If you have any questions, please reach out. I am always happy to help! I hope you all enjoy the warm weekend! I am so excited!
Hello Kindergarten Family =)
I will not be in school tomorrow, so I wanted to update our class news page a day early because so much great stuff is coming up. I received confirmation that we are presenting Morocco to the school on Friday the 22nd of March, so they kiddos will need to come to school dressed up if they are participating. We would like to invite you to a special presentation on Thursday the 21st, so we can go over it in front of an audience, and they can settle their nerves in front of their loved ones. We would like to present to you on Thursday the 21st at 9 am. We hope you can all make it!
Next week is a busy week of social studies as we prepare for International Week, so we are taking a break from our How To writing, and we will be doing fun quick writes throughout the week. I love doing them because they show me just how much they can do on their own, and they love writing about fun stuff too!
In math, we will continue to work on our Module 4. We are almost through it, and all of the kids are doing awesome!
I will change the book bags on Monday, and I will be sending home some Morocco information for them to practice reading next week as well because every child will be presenting =)
Reminder: The silly leprechaun is visiting our class next week, and we are celebrating Saint Patrick's Day on Friday the 15th. Leprechaun traps should be brought to school on Thursday the 14th, so we can set them before we leave school.
Thank you for helping us with all of the extra exciting things we have going on in here. We all truly appreciate you! I hope you have a beautiful weekend!
Hello Kindergarten Family =)
This was an awesome week of reading! Thank you so much for reading with your little one each day and returning their reading slips. They loved their daily prizes! We also read a lot in class this week, and we enjoyed celebrating Dr. Seuss's birthday today!
To celebrate being awesome readers, the class finished their books with their 8th grade partner and shared it with their classmates. I printed each one in color and put it in between construction paper. They are going home today in the white binder. I hope you enjoy them! They are so creative!
For our How To Writing celebration, we made bowls of cereal this week while following each student's directions. I was so proud of them! We had lots of successful bowls made. It was a great lesson to show them just how specific they need to be, and it was fun....Bonus! Next week, we will complete one more How To Writing piece, so they can practice their skills.
We are moving right along in module 4 in our math books. Please continue to make sure your little one is doing their math homework each night. It is meant to be a check in to test what they learn each day. Please help them read the directions because the lessons do change a little each day. I return the homework on Fridays with notes on them in their white binders.
During social studies, we are learning about Morocco. They are all doing really well! I will invite you all to our International Week presentation when I learn the schedule. I will send home a separate message today about what needs to be ordered or purchased if you would like your child to participate in dressing up for our presentation. International Week is March 18-22.
Another upcoming event is Saint Patrick's Day. We will be celebrating on March 15th. More details will come next week. I do know it will be a dress up day with lots of green, so if you see something while out and about for a deal, you may want to grab it =)
I am always here for you, so if you ever need to chat, please reach out. Thank you for being amazing parents! Have a beautiful weekend!
