Happy Friday (and you get a break for 2 weeks)! What a FUN week! Thank you to ALL of you for helping make this week magical for the kids! We truly enjoyed trying to catch our leprechaun, and the traps were so creative! The kids took such pride in sharing them with their classmates! I hope you all did not mind the rainbow treats I sent home on Thursday. I tried to do something small =)
Our first pep rally was today. The kinders LOVED it along with the rest of the students! We want to continue to build our community and make sure ALL of the kids have fun together!
We took our mid-module assessment in math today on measurement. I was happy to end with that before the break, and the kids shined! If you are interested in some extra work over the break, it would be awesome to have your child work with adding different combinations up to ten. Examples: 2 and 3 make 5, 4 and 3 make 7, 8 and 2 make 10. Please use this language as this is the language we will be using in class. We will be concentrating on these skills heavily when we return.
The spelling test was exciting and successful today. It made them feel like big kids they said =)
Thank you so much for helping your child with the spelling homework. Soon, it will become automatic for them.
Everyone is catching on to our new writing unit on opinion writing. I am hoping to have something to show the week we get back from break.
Please continue to read with your child over the break. They all are amazing readers, and I don't want them to lose steam.
Thank you for helping make this the BEST year! I hope you all enjoy the break and get a little extra time with your child. I am super excited to hold my babies more! If you need me for anything, you can reach me on my cell phone. I cannot promise I will be checking emails often =)
See you all in two weeks on April 4th. Happy Easter!
Happy Friday! Report cards went home with your child today. If you have any questions, I am happy to meet with you.
We had a busy week starting new units! In math, we are learning about length and weight. The unit is very hands-on, and we are having fun with it!
In writing, we have started our opinion writing unit. This week the students learned how to make their writing pieces juicy with more describing words. I am excited to see where this unit takes us!
In reading, we finished up studying Dr. Seuss and reading his books. We celebrated the end of our unit today by watching Horton Hears A Who. They enjoyed seeing Horton because they all really liked the book Horton Hatches The Egg.
Next week is going to be just as busy and fun! It is our last week of school before Spring Break, and we are going to try to catch the sneaky Leprechaun in our classroom!
Wednesday---Leprechaun traps are due
Thursday---Saint Patrick's Day
Friday---Rainbow Day-kids get to dress up in colors of the rainbow. It is also our first PEP RALLY at 2:15, so if we are not down the hill at 2:30, please feel free to come up the hill and check us out =)
Friday is also the last day of school before Spring Break!! School resumes on April 4th.
I hope you all have a beautiful weekend! See you on Monday!
Hello Families =)
Dr. Seuss week has come to an end. We had the best time learning this week! Thank you to all of you that helped out this week! Thank you for coming in to read to the class, Tayra! We truly enjoyed having you and eating your yummy snack you prepared for us! I love that all of the kids tried the green eggs and ham that I made. However, not everybody loved it (I suspected that). Friday was the perfect ending to our week. We ate cake and celebrated his birthday! The kids were wonderful and adorable at the assembly! Thank you for coming to watch your little ones!
The second trimester is officially over! All of the students are doing great, and we are loving Kindergarten! I am sad that the year is flying by. I am going to be making a new change in the third trimester. We are going to add spelling homework each night, and there will be a spelling test on Fridays. They all are turning into such talented and creative writers. Awesome spellers will be the icing on the cake!
This trimester we will be focusing on opinion writing, studying animals for science, becoming amazing readers, and continuing to work hard in math. We also have a couple of super exciting field trips coming up! More information will be coming soon.
Please remember that there is NO SCHOOL on Monday. I hope you all have a relaxing and fun weekend!
