Hello Families =)
February is proving to be another very busy month in Kindergarten, and I would like to thank you all for everything you do for us to make this such a memorable year! If you ever have any questions or concerns about everything we have coming up, please contact me. I am so happy to help!
We did a lot of reading and writing this week because we are working hard learning all about France for International Week. The kids are learning about the French culture and politics, as well as learning some french to speak to our friends as they come to visit us. We are having a lot of fun with this project, and we will definitely share our learning with you soon!
In math, we finished up our module on comparing lengths. Next week, we will be focusing on weight. All of these math lessons are very hands-on, so math has been pretty exciting for the kids lately. I hope they are sharing!
Our STEAM activities this week were centered around the books: Giraffes Can't Dance and The Three Little Pigs. For the first book, the kids were able to build instruments out of masking tape, beads, rubber bands, stickers, craft sticks, glue, solo cups, foam board, shoe boxes, and dry beans. For the second book, the kids built a house for Little Piggie Mrs. Adamson, to keep her safe from the Big Bad Wolf. They were given craft sticks, note cards and tape to build their houses, and they were a success! The Big Bad Wolf was not able to blow down any of the houses! We love STEAM days in kindergarten! They are all so creative!
For Valentine's Day, please send your child to school with valentines for everyone in the class and something to carry all of their valentines in. It was just announced that as a fundraiser for the 7th grade Europe trip, all students who dress in red, white or pink and bring in a dollar or more as a donation, get to participate in a free dress day on Valentine's Day.
Please take a look at my homepage to find out what important dates are coming up. Have a great weekend!
Hello Families =)
This was a FUN and BUSY week of learning! We had our 2nd marble party, first Star Student of the Week, and we celebrated the 100th Day of School! Our first Star Student of the Week was Daisy! We are so thankful to have Daisy in our class! She is a sweet friend to all!
Thank you so much for helping your child with their snowman project. The snowmen are playing a big role in our How To writing, and the kids are having a lot of fun with it!
In math, we started a new module of comparing length, weight, capacity and numbers to 10. This is a very hands-on unit, so I know the kids will enjoy it!
Next week in social studies, we will begin our unit of studying different jobs and what people do for work. You will hear more about this soon =)
The book bags are really helping out our reading program. Thank you so much for working with your child every night and returning the books each day!
I hope you all enjoy writing your love letter to your child for our Valentine's Day project. I love this project! Thank you for all of your support! You help make Kindergarten the best year!
Have a great weekend!
